Fremd efficiently edges Conant; Holden powers Schaumburg

Fremd managed to scored 3 runs without a hit to claim a 3-2 victory over visiting Conant on Tuesday in Mid-Suburban West baseball action.

Neither Brian Polaski nor Patrick Smith allowed the Vikings a hit, but Fremd (10-5, 4-0) made good use of 5 walks and an error.

Conant (5-11), meanwhile, managed 10 hits, including 2 apiece from Steve Bola, Brady Pelesh and J.T. Peacock.

Fremd's Austin Jetel allowed 2 earned runs in 4⅓ innings to get the win, and Daniel Pinderski pitched 2⅔ inning of scoreless relief to earn a save.

Schaumburg 5, Hoffman Estates 2 (9 inn.): Jack Holden hit a leadoff homer in the ninth inning after tripling and scoring earlier to help the visiting Saxons pick up an MSL victory.

The game was tied at 1-1 after 8 innings, as Hoffman Estates' Brad Demmon and Schaumburg's Jack Bellinger and eventual winner Johnnie Flynn limited the offense.

Keegan Mugerditchian homered for the Hawks as Schaumburg (9-1, 4-0) out-hit the Hoffman Estates 11-5.

The Saxons added 3 more runs in the ninth after Holden's homer.

Hoffman Estates rallied in the bottom half and scored once, but Dylan Roskin caught a drive off the bat of Jeff Mayes in right field to end the game.

Highland Park 12, Maine West 9: The host Warriors (4-9) had what seemed like a commanding lead - before the Giants rallied for 8 runs in the sixth inning to regain control in Central Suburban League play.

Geoff Duckmann finished 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles for Maine West, and Eric Outlaw, Crosley Duckmann and Jake Riportella each had 2 hits.

Elk Grove 5, Hersey 2: Tyler Lawson helped keep Hersey's bats under conrol as the visiting Grens picked up an MSL East win.

Elk Grove went ahead for good with a 4-run rally in the second inning. Lawson pitched a complete game and allowed 5 hits and 1 earned run with 6 strikeouts.

Matt Wary finished 2-for-4 and drove in a run for the Grens (10-4), who took advantage of 5 Hersey errors.

Jack Warner doubled and finished 2-for-4 to lead the Huskies at the plate.

Wheeling 4, Prospect 1: Nathan Cooney had it all working as the visiting Wildcats won the MSL East matchup.

Cooney tossed a complete game 2-hitter with 4 strikeouts and no walks, and he also doubled and scored.

Lucas Vieau finished 2-for-3 and drove in a run for Wheeling.

Patrick Dononhue and Lucas Karz had the hits for Prospect (9-5-1, 2-2).

Barrington 9, Palatine 3: The visiting Broncos plated 8 runs over the first three innings to top the Pirates.

Anthony Lombardi doubled twice and drove in a pair as Barrington (14-5, 3-1) finished with 10 hits to make a complete-game winner of Anthony DeLaurentis, who struck out eight and allowed 5 hits.

Zach Serna had the only extra-base hit for Palatine, a double.

Buffalo Grove 8, Rolling Meadows 3: Adam Apel produced a complete-game win, limiting the visiting Mustangs to 6 hits.

Jeremy Firszt had 2 hits and drove in a run for Buffalo Grove (4-9).

Alex Niecikowski doubled and scored in the first inning, which is when Rolling Meadows did all its scoring.

Luther North 3, Christian Liberty 1: Dylan Antonides allowed only 5 hits, but the Chargers managed only 3 in a Northeastern Athletic Conference loss.
