Stone, Noda power Grant victory
Andrew Stone moved to 4-0 on the mound for Grant by pitching five innings and striking out two batters as the Bulldogs topped McHenry 8-3 in nonconference baseball on Monday.
Ryan Noda had 2 hits for Grant, including a 2-run home run. It was his sixth home run of the season.
Simeon Lucas also had 2 hits for Grant, one of them a homer, and drove in 3 runs.
Warren 4, Wauconda 3: Brian Lavery had 2 hits and scored 2 runs for Warren while teammates Ben Dinter and Ben Perner had a triple and double, respectively. Perner also was the winning pitcher. For Wauconda, which drops to 3-8, Joey Lovelle had 3 hits, including a double. Roy Nelson had 2 hits, including a double. Brian Malisheski also had a double and Luke Weller added another 2 hits.
Vernon Hills 4, Grayslake North 0: Pat Crowley and Tommy Earhart each had 2 hits for Vernon Hills. Crowley was also the winning pitcher. He went 6⅓ innings and struck out three batters while walking just two. Andrew Mikusa got all 3 of Grayslake North's hits.
Carmel 2, Lakes 0: Ian Kristan and Billy Winegard drove in Carmel's runs. Lakes dropped to 4-6.
Round Lake 6, North Shore Country Day 5: Pitcher Tyler Sanchez got the win for Round Lake. He went 5⅓ innings and had 3 strikeouts and 3 walks. Jalen Young had a double for the Panthers.
