Palatine keeping pace in West race

Palatine senior Rachel Chumbook scored 7 goals and junior Caroline Wojtas had 5 with 3 assists as the Pirates topped Fremd 13-3 on Wednesday to stay 1 game off the Mid-Suburban League lead in girls water polo.

Senior goalie Kim Butler stopped 10 shots for Palatine (16-3 overall, 6-1 MSL West), and sophomore Tess O'Brien scored 1 goal.

Fremd got goals from Emma Hoffman, Tami Carlson and Megan Younker.

Conant 12, Barrington 2: Carmen Rosas (7 goals) and Angie Skittone (4) led the MSL West leaders to a decisive victory. Conant improved to 14-4 overall and 7-0 in the West.

Hersey 13, Rolling Meadows 3: Natalie Curtis paced the Huskies (15-2, 6-1) with 3 goals as the MSL East co-leaders picked up a divisional victory.
