Baby born after deadly crash united with mother
INDIANAPOLIS - A central Indiana woman who gave birth hours after she was badly hurt in a crash that killed her husband has been united with her daughter.
Baby Autumn Sperry was released Tuesday from Riley Hospital for Children to her grandparents, who took her to the rehabilitation center where 22-year-old Rebecca Sperry is recovering from the April 6 crash.
John Keefe tells WISH-TV that members of their church will help his daughter care for Autumn over the next few weeks. He tells WTHR-TV Autumn is a miracle from God for surviving the crash.
Authorities say Jesse Sperry died when the couple's car went off Indiana 32 near the town of Lapel after being struck from behind by an off-duty Edgewood police officer's SUV. That officer faces driving while intoxicated charges.
