Bartlett 7, Union County (KY) 1: Dana Paul had a 2-run home run and Katie Fornoff went 2-for-3 with a double and 2 runs scored in the Hawks' first win of the day at the Play It Again Sports Tournament in Clarksville, Tenn. Kayla Haberstich added a 2-for-3 game, while Alyssa Nowak picked up the pitching win, allowing 5 hits with 1 strikeout and 2 walks.

Bartlett 3, Beech (KY) 2: In its final pool play game, Elysse Hickey went 2-for-2 with a double and 2 RBI to lead the Hawks to the win. Holly Pagan (2-for-2) was the winning pitcher, allowing 5 hits with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Bartlett 3, Peoria Notre Dame 0: In its first bracket game, Bartlett got a 4-hitter with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk from Holly Pagan, who also had a double and an RBI. Kayla Haberstich was 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored for the Hawks.

Creekwood (TN) 1, Bartlett 0: The Hawks fell in the semifinals, managing just 4 hits. Kayla Haberstich had a double and Amy Johnson suffered the pitching loss, despite allowing just 3 hits.

"It was a real good trip," said Bartlett coach Jim Wolfsmith. "We played great competition and we're real happy with the way we played overall. We just couldn't find a way to push a run across and get into the final game."

Geneva 3, Burlington Central 2: The Rockets (2-3) allowed 3 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning in this nonconference loss. Bekah Harnish had 2 hits for BC and Brooke Gaylord was the losing pitcher.

Cary-Grove splits: The Trojans played their first games of the season and salvaged a nonconference split with Carmel, winning the second game 8-2 after falling in the opener 12-1. Jamie Deering went 2-for-4 and Sarah Purpura had a double for C-G in the win and Caroline Zasadil picked up the pitching win, allowing 6 hits and no walks. In Game 1, Purpura was 2-for-3 and Amanda DeGroote was the losing pitcher.

Larkin falls twice: The Royals (1-4) lost a nonconference doubleheader at Wauconda, 10-0 and 14-9. In Game 1, the Royals were no-hit. Sarah Hansen took the loss. In Game 2, Lexi Price (3-for-4, 2 RBI), Sophie Young (2-for-4, 2 RBI), Bekah Harrington (2-for-4, 2 RS) and Holly Zdroik (2B) all contributed to Larkin's 11-hit game. Emily Rojo took the loss.

Elk Grove 10, Elgin 0: Elgin had just 4 singles and committed 4 errors in this nonconference loss. Jessica Rago was the losing pitcher.

Hampshire 19, Durand 2: In the first game of the Rockford East tournament, Peyton DeChant went 4-for-4 with 2 home runs, a double, a triple and 7 RBI to lead the Whip-Purs. Becca Hurst (2B) and Sara Finn each had 3 hits, while Haley Widmayer (2B) and Ashley Van Acker each had 2 hits. Hurst was the winning pitcher, allowing just 1 hit.

Marian Central 6, Hampshire 3: Peyton DeChant had 2 hits and Becca Hurst and Haley Widmayer each added doubles for Hampshire. Widmayer was the losing pitcher.

Hampshire 19, Rockford Jefferson 0: Haley Widmayer threw a 2-hitter as the Whip-Purs (5-3) finished 2-1 at Rockford East. Peyton DeChant was 4-for-4 with a home run, 2 doubles and 4 RBI to lead Hampshire. Ellie Lapi (2B) also had 4 hits, while Widmayer and Aly Snider (HR, 2B, 3 RBI) each had 3 hits.
