Grayslake Historical Center hosts several programs this week

Several public events, including a program on Grayslake postal history, will be held this week at the Grayslake Historical Center and Museum, 164 Hawley St., Grayslake.

At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, sisters Nancy Plotz Reed and Lisa Plotz Androus will present a program that will trace the postal history of Grayslake and will include historic Grayslake postal artifacts.

They are the daughters of the late Ernie Plotz, postmaster in Grayslake for many years. The program will be in the Community Room.

On Thursday, April 10, the Lake County Civil War Roundtable will present a program in the Community Room on "The Big Rail Movement," about how Union and Confederate forces made strategic use of American railroads during the Civil War. Charlie Banks will present the program.

At 10 a.m. Saturday, April 12, in the Community Room, the Grayslake Historical Society will host its continuing Reminisce session "On The Street Where You Live." The discussion will be about Slusser Street. Memories with stories and pictures on living in the Slusser Street neighborhood will be shared.

On Saturday, April 12, author David Leider will present a program at 2 p.m. in the Community Room on the Soo Line Railroad and its connection to Grayslake.
