Arlington Heights man faces aggravated assault charge

An Arlington Heights man has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm in public and criminal damage to property in connection with a dispute over damage to a bicycle, police said. Brian Hilton, 47, of the 900 block of East Oakton, was arrested around 1:43 p.m. Saturday outside his home.

According to the male victim, Hilton chased him with a rifle after he knocked on Hilton's window to get his attention, police reports said. The victim told police Hilton damaged his bicycle and he went to the home demanding compensation for the bike.

Hilton phoned 911 when he saw the man and then ran out with the gun, police reports said. The rifle uses black powder and needs a cap to perform. Hilton had caps in his pocket but not in the gun, police reports said. His court date is April 28.
