Congressional art contest accepting entries

Submissions are now being accepted for the 2014 Congressional Art Competition, U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth's office announced Tuesday.

High school students who reside or attend school in the 8th Congressional District may participate. Artwork can include paintings, drawings, collage, prints, mixed media, computer generated art or photography.

A winning piece of artwork will be selected from each congressional district. Last year's winner was Alyssa Froehling of Palatine. Her piece has been displayed in the U.S. Capitol for the past year.

Entry forms should be submitted to Duckworth's office by April 18, and artwork must be dropped off by April 30. The winner will be announced in early May.
