Youngstown State edges UIC 59-56

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) - Kendrick Perry scored 31 points - including four free throws in the final 25 seconds - as Youngstown State clawed back to hold off University of Illinois-Chicago 59-56 on Saturday night.

Perry scored 23 in the second half, his 3-pointer with 4:02 remaining lifting Youngstown State into its first lead, 50-48.

The Penguins (14-13, 5-7) went 20-for-30 from the line on 23 Chicago fouls, and Perry and Shawn Amiker hit 5 of 6 free throws in the last half-minute, fending off a run from Chicago's Kelsey Barlow.

In the final 20 seconds Barlow hit a long jumper - initially ruled a 3 - and a 3-pointer. He also launched a 25-footer just after the buzzer that clanked off the rim. The Flames (5-21, 0-12) led by as many as 11 in the first half.

Bobby Hain added 14 points and a career-high 17 boards for Youngstown State, which ended a four-game skid.
