Murray State defeats Eastern Illinois 72-60

MURRAY, Ky. - Jeffery Moss scored 18 points to lead Murray State past Eastern Illinois 72-60 on Saturday night.

Dexter Fields made a layup, giving Murray State a 20-18 lead with 7:21 to play in the first half and the Racers led the rest of the way. Sherman Blanford scored to pull Eastern Illinois within four points, 58-54, with 6:13 remaining. Murray State answered with a 10-0 run, capped by Moss' five points, to take a 14-point lead with 2:17 left.

T.J. Sapp scored 13 points and Jarvis Williams added 12 with eight rebounds for Murray State (16-9, 11-2 Ohio Valley), which has won six of its last seven games and is atop the standings with a four-game lead.

Blanford finished with 26 points on 9-of-17 shooting to lead Eastern Illinois (9-17, 6-8), which has lost three straight. Chris Oliver added 14 points.
