Terrorists broke Islamic principles

The Charlie Hebdo attack just came to an end after a two day manhunt and a hostage situation. The lengths the two Kouachi brothers went to for escape was noticeably disturbing. They robbed a gas station, stole a car, and hid in a warehouse.

Obviously they didn't want to get caught, but on the other hand news reports stated they wanted to die martyrs; to me it seems like a lost cause.

There was a parallel incident in a kosher supermarket in South Paris where two men held people hostage and told police not to storm the warehouse. It has not been confirmed that these two terrorist groups were working together.

Islam does not reward terrorists. Martyrs are those people killed for their religious beliefs, not those going around shooting people mindlessly. The Qur'an clearly states that if you kill one person it is like killing the whole of mankind (5:32). Clearly these men broke every Islamic principle and if they were alive they deserved punishment.
