Church abuse still warrants attention

Thank you for your editorial Jan. 24, “A Beginning Only.” Thank you to all the victims and survivors who have courageously come forward with regard to sexual abuse by clergy in the Catholic Church.

All Catholics and the general public go to bishop-accountability.org and review all the documents just released by the archdiocese of Chicago. Let the coma and blindness we all hae had be lifted. No more spins or lies. The truth is there — the documents speak for themselves. Educate yourselves, your children and your grandchildren. Their safety and well-being is at stake.

There are still clerics among us who have credible allegations of abuse which puts all children and youth in harms way.

I hope the judicial system does its job. May a grand jury investigation be launched so that any person or cleric who has committed criminal acts against children or youth by not reporting predators, concealing the truth and moving priests around who have credible allegations are prosecuted no matter what their stature or rank is in the Catholic Church.

This is not going to “blow over” or be over until it is legally addressed. Enough is enough. Let justice be done for the sake of all children and youth.
