‘Book Thief’ overlooked by critic, Hollywood

Dann Gire’s review of “The Book Thief” as a “Disneyfied view of the Nazis” is an outrage. This is a wonderfully acted drama that faithfully follows the book. Hey, Dann, did you by any chance read the book? That the Golden Globes didn’t even recognize the excellence of this film is just so Hollywood, where special effects rule the world. “Gravity” was good, but one woman whirling around the universe is not on a par with a gripping view of life in Germany before and during the war. Poverty, starvation and oppression are not words that come to mind when I think of Disney.
