Cut do-nothing federal departments

I read in the Herald this morning that Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said he would cut his staff by 20 percent. It says that this will save $1 billion dollars over five years. That is fine as long as it does not weaken our defense.

But what about other departments, such as Energy and Education. What exactly do they do, besides spend billions of dollars each year? These, in my opinion, should be eliminated. They are useless.

The Energy Department throws money down a rat hole to please Mr. Obama. And the Department of Education spends more money every year, and our ranking in the world goes down. We were No. 1 in the world before this department was created.

If memory serves me right, I believe both departments were started by Jimmy Carter. Both should be done away with and would save billions of taxpayer dollars every year.
