A holly jolly time in Rolling Meadows

Rolling Meadows ushered in the holiday season Thursday night with a visit from Santa Claus and the lighting of the official city tree.

The event, which took place outside the McDonald’s restaurant at 3140 Kirchoff Road, also served as a fundraiser for the Rolling Meadows Community Events Foundation. A portion of the sales at McDonald’s during the celebration was donated to the foundation, which was formed in 2011 to support and finance annual community events. Among the entities it supports are the Fourth of July celebration, Rolling Meadows Historical Museum, the Veterans Memorial Committee, Memorial Day events, the holiday tree-lighting ceremony and winter holiday decorations.
