UC Davis defeats SIU-E 80-75

PORTLAND, Ore. — Josh Ritchart scored the last four points of the game, hitting a pair of free throws and a jumper as UC Davis fended off Southern Illinois Edwardsville 80-75 at the Portland State Tournament on Friday night.

Ritchart scored a career-high 35 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. He also scored the last five points of the first half, bringing UC Davis from eight points down to within two.

The Aggies (2-2) took lead for good in a 9-6 flurry that included an Igor Nujic jumper, a layup from Avery Johnson, a 3-pointer and two free throws by Corey Hawkins. Hawkins finished with 11 points.

Rozell Nunn led the Cougars (1-3) with 17 points. Michael Messer and Kris Davis added 11 each.

Ritchart, who hadn’t scored more than 18 this season and 24 in his career, was 12-14 from the field, including all three 3-pointers, and 8 of 14 at the line.
