Body on tracks Friday ID’d as Buffalo Grove woman

A woman who was struck and killed by a train on the railroad tracks south of Buffalo Grove’s Metra station Friday morning has been identified as 49-year-old Linda S. Kozer of Buffalo Grove.

Though her cause of death was determined to be multiple blunt force trauma injuries, the investigation of how she came to be on the railroad tracks continues.

Between 7:30 and 7:45 a.m., someone aboard Metra’s inbound train 110 reported seeing a body on the outbound tracks, a Metra spokeswoman said.

The Lake County sheriff’s office confirmed in a news release that she was struck by a train.

Buffalo Grove fire and police officials were called to the scene. Trains — including the first outbound trip of the morning, train 101 — were halted for at least 40 minutes.

The investigation of Kozer’s death is being conducted by both the Lake County sheriff’s office and the Lake County coroner’s office.
