One hospitalized when pickup overturns on I-90 ramp

One person was hospitalized after a rollover crash on an Interstate 90 ramp in Rosemont overnight.

The single-vehicle crash happened about 12:40 a.m. Wednesday at the Lee Street exit ramp, according to Illinois State Police.

The pickup truck involved appeared to have left the off-ramp and slid down the embankment, where tire tracks were visible Wednesday morning.

The driver was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with non life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police on Wednesday afternoon would not say if alcohol was involved or what caused the crash.

The crash occurred just feet from a where a four-vehicle collision occurred Oct. 24 on Higgins Road that resulted in the death of 37-year-old Rusty Carpenter of East Dundee. In that crash, authorities said two vehicles may have been racing on westbound Higgins, west of Mannheim Road and before Touhy Avenue, when one of the vehicles lost control, hit the median and went flying into the eastbound lanes. That vehicle then crashed into two more vehicles before landing on O’Hare International Airport property.
