Bears to honor teen who survived brain tumor
WMAQ-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1cAvh0Q ) 17-year-old Jessica Michalec will participate in a pregame ceremony Sunday at Soldier Field. She’ll be joined by her mother, Lori Havelka.
Havelka describes the day they learned Jessica had a golf ball-sized tumor as “surreal.” She says her daughter underwent a six-hour surgery and has been tumor-free for two months.
One of Jessica’s doctors says her positive attitude and young age contributed to her quick recovery.
Now she’s planning to graduate from high school in June and begin studying for an associate’s degree in graphic web design.
