Enforce the gun laws we already have

This from a letter I sent my senator.

Do you think someone who beats a woman should be able to carry a gun? A Chicago police officer was caught on tape doing just that because she wouldn’t serve him because he was drunk. He should’ve lost his job, and should never be able to carry a gun again. This was a police officer who knows the laws and didn’t care.

Now you want to talk common sense. You want to make someone a criminal just because their gun holds 15 bullets even though they never did anything wrong. That’s the opposite of common sense.

Now let’s talk assault weapons. Isn’t any weapon you assault someone with an assault weapon? You could take a baseball bat and hit someone in the back of the head and kill them. You could take a knife and stab someone and kill them. You could take a car and run someone over and kill them.

All of the weapons I just mentioned anybody could buy without any background checks or a FOID card. But you want to pick on guns. Guns don’t kill people. People kill people. In 9/11 no guns were used and over 3,000 people died. Boston, again, no guns were used at the marathon. Bad people will always find a way to kill. So I have no idea why you are picking on guns. Maybe you should use a little common sense and work on bigger problems we have.

We don’t need any more laws. Enforce the laws we already have.
