Carpentersville man accused of sexually assaulting 5-year-old

A 57-year-old Carpentersville man is being held on bail of more than $1 million after being charged Thursday with predatory criminal sexual assault of a 5-year-old girl he knew.

Alfredo Maldonado, of the 800 block of Ollie Court, was arrested on Monday after the girl’s mother notified police, which sparked an investigation by the Kane County Child Advocacy Center, said Carpentersville Police Commander Timothy Bosshart.

“The girl told her mom and she made the report,” said Bosshart.

The alleged assaults took place at Maldonado’s residence, Bosshart said.

According to court records, the assault took place on July 14, 2013. The charges against Maldonado carry a prison term of six to 30 years, with no possibility of probation.

He also would have to register as a sex offender.

Bosshart said officers arrested Maldonado at his home and learned he was wanted on two failure to appear in court warrants.

The first was from a 1999 battery charge in Elgin and the other a disorderly conduct charge from the Kane County Sheriff’s Department in 2003, Bosshart said.

Maldonado’s bond has been set at $1,004,750, meaning he must post $100,475 to be released while the case is pending.

He is next due in court on Friday.
