Not hypocrisy; just poor parenting

Ms. Vidock, in an Oct. 29 letter, states that past defunding attempts have been treated inconsistently and with hypocrisy.

Not so. In 2007, President Bush’s “Mexican fence” law was defunded when the majority of both houses of Congress voted to do so. Who signed that bill? President Bush.

In 2013, enough votes to defund the Affordable Care Act did not exist in both houses, nor was President Obama likely to sign such a bill.

So, Johnny and the other children on the playground, unhappy that they did not get their way, then throw a temper tantrum and shut down the government for two weeks. Hypocrisy? No. Maybe just poor parenting.
