U. of Chicago plans new center in India

The University of Chicago says it plans to open a new center in India next spring.

The university said in a news release Monday the new Center in Delhi will focus on a range of subjects, including business, economics, law, science, culture and medicine.

The center will host seminars and conferences and have space for academic work. University faculty and students will be able to use the new center as will Indian scholars.

The university says the center will build on partnerships already in place between University of Chicago scholars and counterparts in India.

The new center will not grant degrees.
