15-year-old boy killed, 26-year-old woman wounded in Sunday morning shooting in Zion

Zion police have identified the fatal shooting victim at a party early Sunday morning as a 15-year-old boy, authorities said Monday.

Adarius Green, of the 3000 block of Gilead Avenue in Zion, was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Zion Police Chief Wayne Brooks said in a news release.

Aijah Bradshaw, 26, of the 2400 block of Gilboa Avenue in Zion, was also taken to the hospital to treat nonlife-threatening wounds, Brooks said.

Police are still investigating the 12:54 a.m. shooting on the 2400 block of Gilboa Avenue. Police said they responded to the party for multiple reports of gunshots being fired.

When they arrived, they saw a large number of people in and around the home where a large party with more than 100 older teenagers had been taking place.

“Investigators are making steady progress and continue to interview anyone who may have been at the party and witnessed the shooting,” Brooks said. “This is a very long process due to the sheer number of people who were present.”

He said no arrests have been made.
