Commuters on the Milwaukee District West Line should experience a typical rush hour this morning despite yesterday’s collision in Bartlett between a train and a semitrailer truck hauling cars. Two people suffered minor injuries and the train derailed in the crash. Full story.

The National Weather Service upgraded its freeze watch to a freeze warning for the suburbs this morning. The service calls for the possibility of freezing temperatures until 8 a.m. throughout the suburbs, and worse over the Wisconsin border. And then we could get rain later. Full story.

Aurora murder suspect may have ingested ADHD meds, police say

An Aurora woman accused of stabbing and killing her cousin earlier this month may have ingested her grandchildren’s Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder medication, according to court documents. Amy L. Zuniga is charged with first degree murder in the death of Reynaldo Galvan Oct. 4. Full story.

St. Viator begins random alcohol testing

St. Viator High School in Arlington Heights began randomly testing its students for alcohol consumption this week. The test can detect any alcohol usage within the last 90 days. The school has done random drug tests since 2007. Full story.

Secretary of education visiting Wheeling Thursday

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan plans to visit with students at Wheeling High School Thursday to discuss science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education. His visit will include a tour of the school’s new nano technology laboratory, officials said yesterday. Full story.

Rohlwing Road resurfacing advances

The Rolling Meadows City Council recently approved a $1.5 million resurfacing of Rohlwing Road from Kirchoff Road north to Industrial Avenue and on Industrial from Rohlwing west to Hicks. Full story.

The bright spot in all of the injuries experience by the Chicago Bears Sunday is that backup quarterback Josh McCown played a very solid game — the second-best performance in his 11-year NFL career.
