Geoffrey Rush to attend Chicago film festival

Academy Award-winning actor Geoffrey Rush is scheduled to attend tonight’s screening of his new film “The Book Thief” during the Chicago International Film Festival.

Rush is expected to be joined at the red carpet event by his co-star, Sophie Nelisse, and director Brian Percival.

The film is based on a best-selling book. It tells the story of a young girl who is sent to live with a foster family in World War II Germany and changes the lives of those around her by stealing and sharing books.

Rush won an Oscar for his role as a pianist in the 1996 film “Shine.”

The film festival runs through Thursday.
