More than one way to wreck nation
The skirmishing continues in Washington.
Shifting demands of the Tea/Republican Party make it clear that what is in fact demanded is the resignation of the current occupant of the White House. These elected representatives whether from DuPage County or from Texas, have cultivated an atmosphere of ravening antipathy for the black man in the White House.
They are the political heirs of the slaveholding minority that plunged this country into a devastating Civil War. Like their ancestors, they frankly believe that going over the precipice would be a “good thing.” They believe that in the long run default would allow them to assert their will upon the majority.
Overt hostilities are not the only way to wreck a nation.
