Rubin returns to public service in Buffalo Grove

Brian Rubin is back in public service.

Rubin, a former Buffalo Grove village trustee, has been appointed by the village board to the Police and Fire Commission. He replaces Harold “Sonny” Lukatsky, who served on the board for seven years.

On a related note, Buffalo Grove trustees recently issued a proclamation commending Sgt. Steven Parkinson for his 25 years serving the village. Parkinson, who retired Oct. 4, served in a variety of positions, including patrol officer, youth officer, corporal and sergeant. He received several awards and commendations, including the Cook County Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Award of Valor.

The Village of Buffalo Grove is rolling out the new multijurisdictional smartphone app at Monday’s village board meeting. Nine units of government worked together to produce this tool, meant to be a mobile information center for the community.
