Northwestern to have peanut-free football game

Northwestern won’t serve peanuts at Ryan Field on Saturday when the Wildcats take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

The university is hosting its first Peanut Free Day for those with peanut allergies. Head football coach Pat Fitzgerald says it will be a special day for “many people that may never have attended a live sporting event.”

The school says the stadium will undergo extensive cleaning before the game to make sure no peanut material remains anywhere in the facility.

The game starts at 11 a.m. in Evanston.
