Republican Bob Dold of Kenilworh raised about $318,000 in the third quarter of the year in his rematch bid against Democratic U.S. Rep. Brad Schneider of Deerfield.
Dold's campaign says he has about $819,000 in the bank so far for what's likely to be the Chicago area's most-watched campaign for Congress.
Candidates' fundraising totals are due Tuesday, and a spokeswoman for Schneider says the Democrat will release his numbers then. Schneider defeated Dold by just 1 percentage point last year after the Republican's freshman term in Congress.
The rematch should draw national attention and is likely to be expensive.
Both candidates reported big fundraising takes in the second quarter of the year, with Dold netting about $546,000 and Schneider $385,000 that time.
The two candidates are vying for the 10th Congressional District, which starts at the Wisconsin border and includes central Lake County and northern Cook County.
