Hoop-a-thon in Niles

Hoop-A-Thon for Huntington's: The Huntington's Disease Society of America — Illinois Chapter will host its annual Hoop-a-Thon from 1-4 p.m. Saturday at Notre Dame College Prep, 7655 W. Dempster St., in Niles. Participants collect donations for attempting to make as many free throws as they can in five minutes. Proceeds go toward finding a cure for Huntington's, a devastating, hereditary degenerative brain disorder that slowly diminishes one's ability to walk, think, talk and reason. Saturday's event also will feature children's activities, games, crafts, courtside entertainment, a silent auction and raffle prizes. For more information, call HDSA-IL Board Member John Cuccinotto at (630) 873-0052 or visit hdsa.org/il.
