Robert Hays to appear in second Wisconsin tourism ad

MADISON, Wis. — Actor Robert Hays is making a second appearance in a Wisconsin tourism commercial, this time with his “Airplane!” co-star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

David Zucker, Jim Abrahams and Jerry Zucker are directing the new ad, which was shot earlier this month in Los Angeles in the original cockpit from the 1980 comedy. The commercials will also include aerial footage of Wisconsin.

The three new 30-second ads will debut at the Wisconsin Governor’s Conference on Tourism in March, where Jerry Zucker, Hays and Abdul-Jabbar will make an appearance.

This is the first time Hays and Abdul-Jabbar have been reunited since making the movie.

The ads are for summer, fall and winter 2014.

In the last ad, Hays played a befuddled fisherman on a summer day where everything seems to go wrong.
