Run the golf course during Chevy Chase 5K in Wheeling

For the first time, the Wheeling Park District is making Traditions at Chevy Chase Golf Course available to runners for the Chevy Chase 5K, which will take place at 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 10.

This new event is suitable for runners of all ages and abilities. Participants step off at 5- to 10-second intervals in a time-trial start that allows for a safe race.

The preregistration fee is $25; day-of registration is $30. Register online at www.chevychase5k.com or in person at the Community Recreation Center, 333 W. Dundee Road, in Wheeling. Those who register in advance may pick up race packets at Chevy Chase Country Club, 1000 N. Milwaukee Ave., from noon-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, or 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9.

Day-of registration and check-in starts at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 10.

The Chevy Chase 5K meanders through the scenic landscape on the cart paths that follow the tree-lined fairways of Traditions at Chevy Chase Golf Course. Water is provided along the course and time splits are given at each mile. A celebration takes place after the race.

All participants receive a race shirt. Prizes are awarded to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the male and female winners in each of the 14 age categories. All participants in the Children's Race receive a prize. Results will be available after the race at www.chevychase5k.com and www.racetime.info.
