A 17-year-old from Elgin pleaded guilty to felony burglary in connection with a string of car burglaries in August and was sentenced to three years’ probation. Full story.

Fox Lake man back in jail after new charges filed

A Fox Lake man who was out on bail while awaiting trial for his role in a 2012 alcohol-fueled crash that killed a friend now faces new trouble after being charged with attacking an ex-girlfriend, authorities said. Anthony Cechini, 24, was arrested by Fox Lake police on Sept. 6. Full story.

Snedeker leads BMW with string of birdies

When the very first scores posted on the enormous, hand-operated scoreboard in the media room at Conway Farms in Lake Forest read 3, 3 and 3 — as in birdie, birdie, birdie — well, you couldn’t help but thinking “here we go.” It was a low-scoring first round of the BMW Championship, which continues today.
