Downers Grove teen faces arson charge

A Downers Grove teenager faces one count of arson after setting fire to a park district facility, according to a police news release.

Police said Kyle McCreddy, 19, of the 6000 block of Brairgate Drive, turned himself in to authorities Wednesday afternoon.

An investigation led Downers Grove police to believe that McCreedy set fire to a concession pavilion at McCollum Park, 6801 Main St., around 11 p.m. on July 2.

Damage to the structure is estimated at $20,000. No injuries were reported.

McCreedy posted 10 percent of his $50,000 bail and was released. His next court date is Oct. 14.
