Cops: Aurora man slashed roommate during argument

An Aurora man was charged with attempted murder after slashing his roommate with a “box cutter-like object” early Tuesday on the city’s west side, police said.

Marvin Martin, 56, is accused of attacking the 51-year-old victim around 1:45 a.m. as a fight escalated inside their apartment on the first block of South View Street.

Police said the victim suffered injuries caused by a “box cutter-like object” to his neck, shoulder, torso and arm. Authorities did not identify the man, but said he was expected to survive after undergoing surgery at an Aurora hospital.

Martin was charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery, police said. He is scheduled to appear Wednesday in bond court.
