Villa Park man charged with burglary

A surveillance camera led Villa Park police to a 19-year-old who burglarized a home last week, officials said.

Leonel Solis, 19, of Villa Park, was charged with residential burglary Tuesday, according to a news release.

A homeowner living on the 100 block of north Westmore Avenue reported that someone entered their home on Aug. 21 and stole multiple electronic devices, police said.

Officers investigating the burglary were able to find surveillance video of a Black Jeep Cherokee leaving the home, police said, and then spotted the vehicle Tuesday afternoon at a business near Roosevelt Road and Michigan Avenue in Villa Park.

Solis then confessed to burglarizing the home and led officers to the stolen property, the release said.
