NATO protester deported after bomb threat

A 25-year-old man who was convicted of threatening to blow up a downtown Chicago bridge during last May’s NATO summit has been deported to Poland.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says Sebastian Senakiewicz was sent back to Warsaw on Wednesday, accompanied by federal agents.

He pleaded guilty last year to one count of falsely making a terrorist threat and was sentenced to four years in prison. His sentence was reduced on an appeal and he then spent time working in a Cook County boot camp.

Senakiewicz was accused of bragging about hiding explosives in a hollowed-out Harry Potter novel. Authorities searched his home but didn’t find any explosives.

He was one of four protesters arrested before the May 2012 summit and charged under a never-before-used Illinois terrorism statute.
