Argonne director takes on new technology role

The director of Argonne National Laboratory will be the next chairman of the board for a statewide group dedicated to developing Illinois’ technology economy.

The Illinois Science & Technology Coalition said Thursday that Argonne Director Eric D. Isaacs will take over for outgoing chairman John Anderson.

According to a coalition news release, Isaacs is both an accomplished researcher and advocate for using scientific innovation to meet challenges. He oversees Argonne’s research on clean energy, the environment and national security.

Isaacs said he hopes to use his new position to help advance Illinois’ research economy.

The technology coalition is a nonprofit group dedicated to trying to attract technology-based investment and tech-related job growth to Illinois.
