Washington Mystics (9-10) at Chicago Sky (12-5)
When: 7:30 p.m., today
Where: Allstate Arena
TV: The U Too
Last time: On Wednesday, the Mystics lost to the visiting New York Liberty, 88-78; on July 24, the Sky lost to host Mystics, 82-78.
Skinny: The Sky picks up the second-half of the season sitting in first place in the Eastern Conference. The trick to staying there will be to get rookie forward and leading scorer Elena Delle Donne healthy and back in the lineup. She left the last game before the all-star break with a concussion that forced her to miss the all-star game. She had earned the most fan votes of all WNBA players and was named a starter. Head coach Pokey Chatman said Delle Donne’s status will be very day-to-day. The Sky’s overall depth is also strained, which is particularly worrisome with a Saturday game at Indiana (the first back-to-back of the season) on tap. Backup point guard Sharnee Zoll-Norman and backup center Carolyn Swords are both out with injuries, Zoll-Norman for the next four weeks and Swords for the season. The good news is that center Sylvia Fowles is looking stronger in the wake of her early-season ankle injury. She was named the Eastern Conference player of the month for July.
Next: Sky at Indiana Fever, 6 p.m. Saturday
