Brooks weaves strong themes into ‘Witch Wraith’

Terry Brooks has written a slam-bang conclusion to his “The Dark Legacy of Shannara” trilogy with the stellar “Witch Wraith.” The magical barrier that keeps hideous evil demons from the known lands is deteriorating, and soon they will be able to escape.

Knowing what happened in the previous two novels is helpful, but Brooks supplies enough information to make the story understandable for newcomers to the series.

Fans of Brooks will enjoy how he incorporates elements from his other Shannara books to unveil a historical tapestry that is quite fascinating. He has a keen eye for great world-building as well as unforgettable characters. Secrets, finding the inner strength to pursue what is just and the love of family all resonate as strong themes.

“The Dark Legacy of Shannara” trilogy is arguably his best work to date.
