Poll Vault: What’s the biggest home improvement project you’ve tackled?

If the Home Depot and Lowe’s commercials are to be believed, attractive couples across the country are working together — and saving money — to retile their bathrooms, install brick pavers, plant topiaries, etc., without the help of a contractor or a marriage counselor.
In my world, however, that’s never going to happen. My husband and I are home improvement-challenged. And we’re OK with that.
Are you handy? Could you remodel a bathroom on your own? Or is your level of expertise more along the lines of painting?
What’s the most extensive project you’ve taken on? How did that work out?
