Nik Wallenda may have crossed the Grand Canyon on a wire without wearing protection, but he was forced to wear a harness when tackling a ropes course at Six Flags Great America Thursday.
Wallenda, the seventh-generation tightrope walker for the Flying Wallendas, visited the Gurnee theme park with his family Thursday, park officials said.
Aside from going on various rides at the park, the daredevil tackled the park's Sky Trail which stands 40-feet above the County Fair area, officials said.
The request to wear the harness is a requirement of the park's insurance company, officials said.
Wallenda is fresh off a Discovery Channel special for crossing the Little Colorado Gorge near the Grand Canyon. He spent about 23 minutes on a wire to cover the 1,400 gap without a safety harness or net.
Wallenda also crossed the Niagara Falls on a tight rope in June of 2012.
