Midway restaurants noted for healthy menu options

Ten restaurants at Chicago’s Midway International Airport have been recognized for meeting healthy menu standards.

They’ve been named F.I.T. City Establishments by a group called Building a Healthier Chicago.

The organization’s recognition means the restaurants offer two menu choices, other than salad, with fresh fruits and vegetables as primary ingredients, and two menu items that feature whole grains.

The designation also requires restaurants to use plant-based cooking oils instead of unhealthy oils and artificial trans fats. The participating restaurants are also being urged to buy fresh produce, meat and seafood from local suppliers.

The Midway Airport’s restaurants that were recognized are Barista, Dot Com, Get Snacked, Harry Caray’s Seventh Inning Stretch, Landings, Millers Pub, Oak Street Beach Cafe, Sprigs, Taylor Street Market and Tuscany Cafe.
