Music notes: Bon Jovi's world tour stops at Soldier Field

It's a pretty big week for live music in the city and suburbs, so let's get right to it.

Jersey heroes

The invincible hair-metal-turned-contemporary-pop band Bon Jovi is touring the world again, this time behind the group's latest album, “What About Now.” They make a stop at Soldier Field this weekend.

Dylan's Americanarama Tour

Bob Dylan headlines a mind-bogglingly stellar lineup in the suburbs this weekend as part of the Americanarama Tour. In addition to Dylan, there will be performances from Wilco, My Morning Jacket and the Richard Thompson Electric Trio. A night of powerhouse rock music from yesterday and today.

Diva time!

Her Pop Holiness Beyoncé brings an ambitious, lavish, over-the-top show to the city next week, part of a world tour Beyoncé has titled The Mrs. Carter Show. At the very least, the dancing promises to be stunning.

Pop flashbacks

They might not be boys anymore, but three of the biggest boy-bands from the past 30 years will try to show they've still got what it takes during two concerts next week in the suburbs. The headliners are New Kids on the Block, the group that gave teen girls fits back in the late 1980s. Also on the bill are 1990s R&B/pop superstars Boyz II Men and the late '90s/early '00s pop band 98 Degrees. Some of the performers (and their fans) will have cracked middle age, but I expect a lot of teenage enthusiasm to permeate this show.
