Meaning of love critical to marriage

These days there has been much talk about love. Some people have written that “love is love,” while others take a different approach. Thus I felt it necessary to say a few words about the subject.

Every human being possesses numerous natural powers which, if used correctly at the appropriate time, cause one to achieve excellence. Love is just one of those natural powers, and it is first manifested in newborn children who, out of natural love and attraction, seek their mother for sustenance.

The way that human beings learn what is true love is through marriage. From that union, a chain of love and kindness is established in society, i.e. children are born, by loving whom the father and mother learn how to be merciful and compassionate among each other as well as with the entire human race.

Unfortunately, today some people are perverting the true meaning of love to suit their own selfish desires and want to exceed the bounds established by nature. This is a very dangerous trend.

I hope that people around our nation who have knowledge and understanding stand up courageously to defend sound moral principles that are hallmarks of a successful and peaceful society.
