No mercy shown over Naperville ticket

Shame on you, city of Naperville, for your surprises! Our family made a recent trip to Chicago to see the sights, staying in Aurora and commuting via Metra. On the first day, to catch the Metra we parked, paid the meter and ticket fees and caught the train.

On our return trip our first surprise happened when we found a ticket on the windshield. It was then we discovered that there are two parking meter stations located on both sides of the track, and we paid at the wrong side. After getting home, we sent the parking receipt stub and explanation along with the ticket, expecting it to be excused.

Our second surprise then happened when we got a letter from Sgt. Al Trotsky at the traffic section stating that “the parking ticket will not be withdrawn.” We were given a deadline for payment and a warning that lack of payment would “result in it being forwarded to the city of Naperville’s collection agency.” We then called and were told that we paid the parking meter located in the city of Aurora and that Naperville’s policy was to enforce the ticket.

We begrudgingly have paid the ticket and won’t be staying in your community in any future trips.
