3 Geneva places accused of selling alcohol to a minor
Two Geneva restaurants and a nightclub have been accused of selling liquor to an underage person.
They are among 15 establishments tested during the city’s annual undercover check during the Swedish Days festival. Geneva police send a person younger than 21 to try to buy alcohol.
Notice of violations have been sent to the owners of Fiora’s restaurant, 317 S. Third St.; Sergio’s Cantina, 30 W. State St.; and EvenFlow nightclub, 302 W. State St., according to Mayor Kevin Burns, who is the city’s liquor commissioner.
No hearings have been set on the allegations. Burns said they are likely to take place the week of July 15.
“Anytime we have an infraction it is disappointing,” Burns said.
The employees who sold the liquor also received $250 tickets. They are Wallace J. Luyten, 37, of the 1800 block of Jeanette Avenue, St. Charles; Kristen L. Real, 27, of the 400 block of South 19th Street, St. Charles; and Wilson Urteaga, 38, of the 2200 block of Scott Lane, Aurora.
EvenFlow received a $1,000 fine and a one-day suspension in December after one of the owners was discovered drinking in the bar at 4 a.m., two hours past closing time.
