Senate should confirm NLRB nominees

We all think Washington, D.C., is dysfunctional and simply not working properly these days. But this month there is a chance for Sen. Mark Kirk to start to prove us wrong. All he has to do is simply cast a vote affirming our right to free speech at the workplace.

A few months ago, the National Labor Relations Board ruled that employees cannot be fired for speaking out about working conditions on social media sites like Facebook. The rub is that today, the NLRB cannot protect any American from attacks on their most fundamental right because the United States Senate has yet to confirm three Democratic and two Republican nominees for the NLRB, put forward by President Obama.

Sen. Kirk, this is not politics, this is common sense. I urge you to do your job and vote in favor of the five NLRB nominees.
