Lost Palatine Golden retriever back home

Bailee, the golden retriever believed to be stolen after wandering from her family's Palatine-area home on Saturday, has been reunited with her owner.

Mike Gerdes said a woman called him Tuesday afternoon after seeing the Daily Herald article and brought Bailee to his house shortly after. She was groomed and in good health. Gerdes, who wasn't home at the time, said he doesn't know the circumstances or whether the woman was the same person who a neighbor saw picking up the dog in an Algonquin Road parking lot.

“I said I'd take her back no questions asked, so it doesn't matter,” he said. “We're ecstatic.” Gerdes said he's starting a nonprofit organization that will help in the search for missing dogs. For more information, visit infocdsite.com/pif-fundraisers/missing-dogs.html.
